When the mysterious Little Planet has makes its annual appearance, Sonic travels to Never Lake but finds the planet has been overtaken by Doctor Eggman’s Badniks! When Sonic’s number one fan, Amy Rose, is kidnapped by his robotic doppelgänger, Metal Sonic, Sonic must race across time itself to keep Eggman from polluting the past, recover the seven Time Stones, and ensure a good future for Little Planet!
Developed by Christian Whitehead, this new version of the game was widely available, included Achievement support, numerous bug fixes, and a whole host of new elements that make it the definitive version of this cult classic entry in the franchise. I first played the game properly when it was included in Sonic Gems Collection (Sonic Team, 2005) but jumped at the chance to play the HD remaster when it first dropped on the PlayStation 3.

There are 7 Emeralds in all.Sonic CD is largely known as one of the best Sonic games and was made widely available in 2011. Special stages task you with running through a "3D" course reminiscent of the original Mario Kart – catch the UFO running from you to earn a Chaos Emerald.

Thankfully, you only need Silver Medals to unlock things.Ĭhaos Emeralds are earned by completing different, more challenging special stages. You'll get a Silver Medal for collecting all the blue spheres and finishing the level, and a Gold Medal by getting all the blue spheres and rings. The classic Sonic 3-style "Get Blue Spheres" bonus stages can be accessed by hitting a mid-level checkpoint with 25 rings or more. Most of the unlockables depend on collecting two things – Blue Sphere Medals, and Chaos Emeralds.
